(Google money forum) Domain and Page Naming Tricks for Better SEO Results
No commentsBy Luie De Von
The importance of domain and page naming is obvious, but you might not have realized the connection to SEO. We all know that unless our domain name is highly recognizable and memorable then we wont get many customers, but good domain names also matter when it comes to search engine rankings the more relevant your domain is to your keywords, the higher it will be ranked.
Domain names are not that difficult to come by at this point. Godaddy.com puts out some great prices and they run all sorts of specials once you become a customer. The more domains that you buy the more that they like you. The basic concept here is that people who buy a few domain names are probably going to become pretty big on the internet. The more that you own the more powerful you are. Domain names are like land in the early eighteenth century. They are valuable and the owners become a sort of elite class on the internet.
The value of domains is difficult to determine until you have purchased one and worked with it for a while. The difference between owning your own domain name and hosting your site on a sub domain or in a subdirectory of a domain is huge. The impact on your ability to perform SEO operations increases drastically simply by the ease of clarifying your URL for the search engines and directories that you submit to.
There are even directories out there that do not except anything except for domains. These are the kind of elitist sites that I described earlier. Domain names are the only way to go if you want to have a seriously successful website that becomes a household name. Directories that do not allow non-domain names are there to protect an investment. If you have spent money on purchasing and hosting a domain name you probably arent to excited about seeing sites that havent dropped a dime on investment being rated above you. This is a sort of aristecratic mind set, but it is a natural tendency of the mind. There are plenty of directories out there that everybody is able to access, but there are some out there that are only for the elite sites of the internet.
This elitist attitude towards domain names is beneficial to your sites because it allows you to get an edge on other sites simply by buying a domain name. This investment is the most crucial SEO investment that you can make. There are very few sites around that get huge numbers of hits (10,000+ per month) without having their own domain name.
So what do you need to do to get these good rankings? Start off by choosing a domain that matches your website well, and youre killing two birds with one stone. Your domain name and URL should reflect what youre trying to accomplish from your site. For example: calling your website thewebcorporation.com isnt much good if it sells hot sauce. For hot sauce, deserthotsauce.com would be a better name the deserts hot, like the sauce! Dont settle for anything that wont make people want to come to your site. Using the name of your company for your domain name is also a good way to go. This is the fastest way of providing a good, quality description of what the visitor is going to. Many visitors will actually consider your domain name the name of your company anyway so you might as well name yourself something that you want to be called.
Most webmasters settle for safe, can’t-go-wrong www.myname.com domains, because it takes time to be creative and think up good names that contain your keywords. You might consider getting some help from the people around you, as you never know what they might be thinking that could be great. You need to come up with a few ideas in case some are taken youll be surprised just how many domains have gone.
Everyone always wants a .com, but you shouldnt rule out .net, .org, .us and the rest. For example, if deserthotsauce.com is taken, you might find that people like deserthotsauce.us just as much.

Experiential Marketing: Lead the Way in Branding & Sales!
By Beth Butler
I am right there with you, executing daily my To Do List that consists of what I feel will get my product line the attention it deserves and so desperately needs. We all churn away at the endless list of things that we hope and, often times feel certain, will drive our companies to that next level and beyond. And yet, do you ever find yourself stopping in the middle of the day and asking yourself the question: What can I do to shake this up some? Feeling perhaps that the results are not quite what you were hoping for?
More than three years ago I paid some pretty pennies for one-on-one coaching with a well known contributing writer for Entrepreneur Magazine who enlightened me to the ways of experiential marketing. First of all, many of you might be phonetically stumbling over how to even SAY the word, much less execute it! Let us use the following, very basic pronunciation key (compliments of yours truly, an elementary school teacher forever at heart!): ek-spear-ee-en-shuhl. Now please note. You will not find that pronunciation guide in Websters! But it works! Because if you are going to use experiential marketing, you need to know how to say it!
I implemented this type of marketing into the plan for my business, and we have experienced exponential growth every one of the six years we have sold our products. The simplicity of why and how experiential marketing works is the key to making it possible for each and every one of us to use it right away. It offers the consumer engaging, entertaining and interactive experiences with your product which helps create a stronger relationship with the consumer.
In a simple step-by-step process you and your team create a plan to bring the experience of your product to your target market. You then activate the plan by finding the venue where you will demonstrate and bring your product to life for your potential consumer along with conceptualizing how you will make the demonstration interactive. Once there at the time of the actual experience, you engage the consumers in attendance by allowing them to try, to sample, to hear, to play with (you get the idea!) your product. Once back in your office you measure the results to check your return on investment.
Call it what you will, some refer to it as guerilla marketing, some say it is out-of-the-box marketing, and many of us refer to it as experiential marketing. The bottom line is it improves your bottom line! And is that not what we all are searching for? Starbucks, Harley-Davidson, Kraft Foods, T-Mobile USA and many others use it regularly to connect with their consumers; you should too!
Not sold on this idea yet? Check out the psychology associated with the success of experiential marketing which reflects a right brain bias as it aims to fulfill the desire your consumers have to experience comfort and pleasure. Research suggests that this type of interactive marketing creates a stronger relationship with the consumer by delivering a deep and connected meaning which is instrumental in brand-building. Contrast this with traditional product-centric marketing that many of us still use, and you will note that it reflects a left brain bias because that style seeks to persuade a consumer to buy your brand over that of a competitor. Consumers buy more often based on emotion than on rational thinking.
Think about your own buying patterns and how often that statement is true. Have you not found yourself more often buying things because of the connection you have with the product, the feeling it creates within you once you see the packaging or smell the scent of it or hear the sound it creates or feel the texture of its fabric? Just imagine allowing several hundred of your potential consumers experience your product with you right there to share your passion about the product and the story behind it. Now you are most likely asking the question: Where do I find those hundreds of people?
Experiential marketing can start off for you as simply as calling a local moms groups and asking to share part of your morning with them. Sure, it might be only fifteen or so families represented, but it is a great way to get your feet wet. Once there you demonstrate your fun product, allow the moms and their children to experience it (if applicable), and share your true story of how this product came to life and how cool it is. As you become more and more comfortable with the live demonstrations and fielding all of the questions, the sky is the limit!
Local craft fairs, expos and associations that deal directly with your target market are excellent ways to build your audience numbers. Offer to speak at these events for free where in turn you get to set up a booth or a trade table with your terrific product front and center for people to interact with. The speaking aspect of these types of venues increases your visibility as an expert in your field. Now is not the time to be shy! You believe in your product, and you are the best one to demonstrate to others just how necessary it is to have it!
Be innovative, make your target market smile while in your presence, and be certain that human interaction takes place. If you remember to do those three things, things that used to be considered alternative approaches for good marketing, you will blaze a trail to higher product sales!

Easy Postcard Marketing - How To Use Postcards To Market Your Business
By Luie De Von
Post card marketing is an exiting way to get your businesses own customized sales message out to already existing customers and prospects, best of all it is a great way to launch a big marketing campaign with a shoestring budget.
How Post Card Marketing Works
Each month you can post out your own customized message for your business. The post cards can have sayings attached to them to generate further interest, like a thought for the month, or a funny saying.
It doesnt matter what type of business you are in it is important to keep in contact with your customers and prospects, by keeping regular contact with them they wont forget about you, or the excellent products and services that you provide them. The great thing about post card marketing is that they are so cheap you can afford to send them out as often as you like.
Why Post Cards Are So Effective
Direct mail costs a lot, for instance calculate the cost of envelopes, postage, and the message inside the envelope. Then consider the cost of getting someone to stuff the envelopes, even if you do this yourself it has cost you the time, and time is money.
After everything, it is likely that it will equate to around a dollar per letter. If your letter is opened, read, and results in a sale- yes, it is money well spent. But often in mail rooms and offices an envelope that even closely resembles advertising is thrown away unopened, in this case you have spent a dollar per letter for it to be thrown in the trash, that is not money well spent in anyones terms.
Post card marketing comes to you already printed, do your math on how many post card mailing cards you can send for the same amount of money it costs to send out just one letter.
The beauty of post card mailing is that when you receive a post card what is the first thing you do? Turn it over and have a look whats on the back, its human nature, isnt it?
Because the post cards are interesting, often customers will pass them around the office, or to friends and family, your post cards have the potential to be passed around all over the place before they are finally thrown in the trash. To save even more on costs the front of the post card shows your return address, so if someone in your mailing list moves, you will know about it.

If you find that post card marketing is just what you have been looking for, then you can sign up for an upgraded account, where you will have latest technology at your finger tips. Why not create a personal touch to your post cards, on this site you can upload samples of your own handwriting and send out personally hand written post cards to your mailing list. Contacts love to receive handwritten mail it makes them feel like you value them. You can even design your own post cards, and sayings to make your post cards even more personal and customized to your business.
An upgraded account also has a contacts management system, so you wont loose those valuable contacts, or have to go searching for them each time you want to send their post cards out. Not forgetting a reminder system, you set that to every time that you want to do a mailing, its like your own personalized mailing alarm clock. If you post out regularly, around about the same time every week, fortnight, or month, which ever suits you the best, your contacts will get used to hearing from you and expect your post card to arrive. With a reminder service you wont be letting them down.
Best of all this can not only be done cheaper than if you did it yourself, you can do the entire transaction online, including postage, and know that your post cards are on their way with a click of the mouse. With that done, you can be managing a huge marketing campaign, and still be putting your feet up and enjoying the finer things in life.
